Ashe County was incorporated in 1799, and spans across 426 square miles at an approximate elevation of 3000 feet. Ashe County is located in the High Country region of North Carolina and has four distinct and beautiful seasons. Ashe county had embraced tourism in many different aspects as people from across the state and the nation come to enjoy the beauty it has to offer. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs through Ashe county with many beautiful overlooks, hiking trails, waterfalls, and scenic vistas. There are many places to stop and have a look around such as The North West Trading Post, Jeffress Park and the Cascades, the beautiful New River, Mount Jefferson and the New River State Park.
Ashe County is known for many things including a thriving Christmas Tree Industry that has furnished several trees for the White House and a Choose and Cut season offering the opportunity for families to come and enjoy the mountains and return home with one of our beautiful Christmas trees. Ashe county offer unique opportunities such as shopping and restaurants in West Jefferson, hiking trails in Lansing and the old 1904 Courthouse and Museum in Jefferson.
